Porter’s Lodge is a magical place and has been created by Craig Wyncoll and architect Lionel Stirgess over the last 37 years. The moment one arrives the tranquillity of the garden wraps itself around one. The garden has an abundance
of features with a series of garden rooms with delightful architectural structures, fountains and magical water features.
There is an envy-making sunken garden with a wonderful greenhouse. Behind this there is a splendid tree house and camp built for Limitless Futures, a special education provision for local children aged 6-16. Running costs come directly from visitors’ entrance donations to Porter’s Lodge.
There are many sculptures from fish to stags around the garden and Craig Wyncoll is planning a Sculpture Park which will exhibit the more Modern trend – yet another reason for a return visit.
The weather was clement and we were treated to a wonderful tea by Sarah and her team in the Tea Garden. A big thank-you from the EAGG visitors, we had an interesting and gentle afternoon.
